The position change in the cabin is no different in the longer throw setting, our shifter will sit and is angled exactly like the stock shifter. In the shorter throw setting, it will sit 1\/2\" taller than the stock shifter. This is how they can remove all the play from the shifter and provide precise shifts. The forward rod is also eliminated, as that was the old pivot point in the stock shifter and still is in nearly all the other aftermarket options. The problem with that forward rod is that it uses a bushing as the pivot point. It also limits the other shifter options on the market for how short to make the throw because to make the throws shorter, they must lower that rod. But we all know that the rod can only go so low before it will interfere with the heat shield.
